MEMBER OF THE MONTH FOR SEPTEMBER 2024 – JENNIFER LEONG
Jennifer Leong, Sotheby's International Realty’s Principal, The Opulent Group & Director of International Developments, joined the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce (GFLCC) in January 2023, and became the Chairwoman of the Real Estate & Construction Council. Jennifer was inspired by previous Chair, Vince Yarina, by bringing in industry icon leaders and power players in like world-renowned architect, Kobi Karp, owner Bob Moss/Moss Construction and venturing into VIP access of our, champion Florida Panthers Iceplex and new War Memorial auditorium.
Most recently she and her Vice Chairs, had a necessary and very impactful panel discussion about the importance of the Live Local Act (SB 102), which aims to significantly bolster the availability of affordable housing options for Florida’s dedicated workforce, allowing all of us, as hard working citizens, for example, teachers that support rearing our children and also those whom serve to protect our communities, to be able to reside in the very communities they tirelessly serve and allowing it to be attainable. This is one of the platforms which Jennifer advocates for and seeks our community to support this act, that affects us all as an entire community when we see that teachers are taking three different buses to get to the school they teach in.
“I am a diehard animal activist and have a passion for helping women with children in distress that I learned from both of my extremely generous and hard-working parents who are true definitions in fulfilling the American Dream. For me, being a mother has made me want to be consistently almsgiving in altruistic actions while always being cognizant in practicing good character and integrity as a philanthropist, giving back to our community and professionally, as a team leader as a principal at Sotheby’s International Realty,” said Jennifer. “My efforts are focused on supporting lobbyists for harsher punishments in Washington D.C. and locally against animal abusers and supporting fellow parents and families in distress. I have been a part of fundraising for ChildNet, volunteering at the Humane Society and private rescue centers with our daughter, Dennison, since we permanently moved to Fort Lauderdale. “
She has traveled to 45 countries and speaks three languages. The start of her career was partaking in the gold rush of Silicon Valley's venture capital world in the early 2000’s where she contributed as a top salesperson in e-Loan.com, allowing them to go public with their IPO on the Nasdaq in NY, requiring a market capitalization of a minimum of $50 million.
Her solid worldwide reach in broker and investor relationships generated when she scored record pre-sales for the tallest residential development in the world, at the record highest price per square foot are what sets Jennifer Leong’s team apart from any other real estate team and has allowed them to succeed in record sales with their listings in Fort Lauderdale, Miami and Palm Beach and bringing buyers to South Florida from all over the world. She personally supported the expansion partnership of ONE Sotheby’s Development Divisions venture into the international Caribbean market and their partnership with the global brand Ferretti Yachts (Riva), when she was recruited from Chicago after sales in many high rise developments that added to that stunning skyline. Her Sotheby’s Opulent Group is the only team that travels the Northeast states, Canada and the Caribbean areas to present Sotheby's development division portfolio which includes: Panther National in Palm Beach County, Dolce and Gabbana 888 Brickell, Pier 66 Residences in Fort Lauderdale, St. Regis Residences in Miami, Alba Palm Beach, Ella in Miami Beach, Zaha Hadid’s One Thousand Museum, Indigo in Vero Beach and of course one of her favorites that she
lead U.S. sales on, Rosewood, Baha Mar in Nassau, Bahamas. She is currently consulting for developers worldwide that have been approved to add to our Broward County skyline on Fort Lauderdale waterfronts and Pompano Beach with luxury 5 Star branded residences.
Jennifer prioritizes her life with what makes her happy, her family and traveling, allowing her to stay immersed in other cultures, allowing her to practice empathy, appreciation and deep gratitude in her on-going journey to evolve to be greater in her life practices. She remains a Midwest, Chicago girl at heart and has kept a pied-à-terre there, allowing her to always stay close to her entire family. Jennifer serves as a Board of Director for our Chamber representing 31 cities while also chairwoman of our Real Estate and Construction Council. You will find her dedicating all her free time to be with her daughter, Dennison, her husband, Chadwick, their dog, Aspen, and volunteering for animals, especially her immense love for dogs and trying to serve the homeless population and consistently seeking solutions.
