MEMBER OF THE MONTH FOR NOVEMBER 2024 – BARBORA KASSDIKIAN
On the heels of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, we are recognizing the 2024 Chair of the Marine Advisory Council, who coordinated its annual Chamber Breakfast on November 1. It is no small feat to pull off a sold-out crowd, and like Barbora Kassdikian always does, she rose to the occasion.
Barbora joined the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce (Chamber) in 2017. She had recently experienced a big life change from being a housewife to becoming a realtor and a friend recommended her to join the Chamber. “I knew I needed to build my circle by networking and meeting people. Maybe it’s the old fashion way, but I believe word-of-mouth marketing and person-to-person connections are the BEST and most AUTHENTIC way to do business. I was dedicated to being involved.”
In addition to amplifying the Marine Council, for the past seven years Barbora has participated in or held a leadership role with six Councils, the Power Partner Leads Group, helped grow all the Leads Groups as Chair of the Chairs, and served on the Board of Directors. “Barbora excels as a connector of people and builder of relationships, she enjoys making introductions between the individuals in her network. She is someone you can count on if you need an honest opinion, and she never shies away from helping when asked.” says Anthony Santana, Chamber Board of Directors Executive Committee.
Barbora’s community involvement is with the Port Everglades Association, Marine Industries Association of South Florida, Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance, HANDY, and Tower Forum Board of Directors. It's not uncommon to run into Barbora at 8:00 am at a Chamber meeting or at 7:00 pm at a charity event.
Born and raised in Prague, Czech Republic, Barbora lived in Plantation Acres for over 20 years before moving to downtown Fort Lauderdale in 2018. “I have raised my beautiful daughter who is now 28 and engaged Couldn't be happier!! Love my Yorkie “Šmudla” and my life. Getting ready to slow down after being on the go for years now, but I am not leaving, just making time for my family and travels.”
