Over 100 business leaders, elected officials and staff visited Boston last week to study that city in a variety of strategic areas related to our economy.

Art, culture and entertainment, technology, affordable housing, resilience, commercial real estate, education, talent, workforce, healthcare, small business, sports and recreation, and transportation were studied by teams of the delegation to bring best practices, ideas, and to share our story with Boston leaders.

“This was an important trip to compare and contrast our work in greater Fort Lauderdale with the rich history and tradition of Boston,” said Dan Lindblade, president and CEO of the Chamber, who served as a member of the Resilience Team. “As it relates to resilience, in many respects we are closely aligned with Boston’s planning, however, both must figure out how to pay for it,” he added.

In plenary sessions attendees heard from Mayor Michelle Wu, Sam Kennedy, president & CEO, of the Boston Red Sox, Glen Thornbrorough, president TD Garden, COO Boston Bruins, and Jack Fleming, president & CEO, Boston Athletic Association, Boston Marathon.

A full report of the findings from the trip will be available in the coming weeks.
