ABOUT OUR SIGNATURE EVENTS
The Chamber hosts scores of networking events each year, but only a handful of large-scale annual events that draw hundreds of attendees. Our Signature Events range from breakfasts honoring power players within the community to galas at South Florida resorts. Each brings together some of the most prominent names in the Greater Fort Lauderdale business arena in an environment only the Chamber can provide.
The Board of Directors Orientation is a key event designed to introduce new board members to their roles and responsibilities while aligning them with the organization's vision and goals. This exclusive session provides an opportunity for leadership training, strategic discussions, and fostering collaboration. The Annual meeting draws more than 400 people each year. This is the ceremonial "passing of the baton" to the incoming chair and Board of Directors. The Downtown Council presents the Downtowner of the Year Award to a prominent member of the Downtown Fort Lauderdale business community who has shown outstanding leadership and direction. The honoree represents the goals for a vibrant downtown economy, and has included leaders such as Wayne Huizenga, Bob Van Fleet and, most recently, Doug McCraw. Excellence in Healthcare Awards brings healthcare providers, business leaders and those associated with the healthcare industry together for an informative session highlighting current trends, issues and forecasts for this crucial sector of our economy. The Sawgrass Awards Luncheon celebrates a business person and company that have gone above and beyond in furthering the economic vitality of the Greater West Broward area. This annual event is hosted by the Greater West Broward Business Council. The inaugural 2017 luncheon drew more than 200 people and was followed by another major turnout in 2018. The Small Business Awards features an expo and breakfast, and draws more than 150 people. Seven categories of businesses are honored, including a small business person of the year. The winners are selected from a panel of celebrity judges, and a keynote speaker, generally from a small business which has seen tremendous success addresses the audience. Participating companies have the opportunity to display their products and information before the ceremony.
